Sophocles’s comment explains that our world and our Universe are filled with beauty and wonder. If we marvel at these, we naturally become more humble. As we become more humble, our minds become more receptive to new ideas and new possibilities. We are more curious. We listen better. We become more grateful. We see the world as extraordinary with infinite scope. We are filled with energy. These are all necessary precursors to wisdom. Wisdom is not about knowledge: it is about enlightened understanding. Wonder is a state of enlightened consciousness.
