There are things we know and things we don’t know. There are things we know we don’t know. But the most important things are often the things we don’t know that we don’t know.

For example, many of us have lost our knowledge about our true nature.

We don’t know that we don’t know that we’re all inextricably connected, even though it’s a simple and obvious concept. We have all come ‘out of’ the same place and we’ll all go back there some day. What one person thinks, says and does affects everyone else. With the power of modern communications that should be painfully obvious. So it means we have to become deeply aware, or conscious, of what and how we think. Because that will determine what we become.

We don’t know that we don’t know, that if we really truly want to improve the world, we have to change ourselves from the inside first. We are so busy dreaming up ways of suggesting improvements by changing the ‘things’ that are outside, that we don’t know that we don’t know that that is senseless, futile and a horrible waste of psychic energy.

We must learn to understand who we are first: deeply understand. Then we can change from the inside to a higher level of consciousness, which is, in reality, our original and true nature, as we discard the conditioning of ego.

And from there, and only then, can we create a new, happier, more accepting, more inclusive, fairer and more loving world!

Maybe this is something that can come out of the ‘don’t know that we don’t know’ box…
