In these turbulent times, when it is often so difficult to make sense of what’s happening, it’s all too easy to look for scapegoats, to try to put the blame on others, making ourselves feel blameless.
We put ‘labels’ – left, right, this ‘isnm’, that ‘isnm’, this ‘doctrine’, that ‘doctrine’ – on anything and everything in our desperate search for answers to these problems.
The words we attribute to these labels take on emotional meanings that divide and separate. Ego then takes over. Ego loves conflict, to be right (and the other wrong), to be the victor at any cost!
To resolve this suffering we need to raise our level of ‘awareness’ and ‘consciousness’. This means focusing on our own role and responsibility.
When we observe the workings of our ego we realise that the right/wrong, love/hate, good/bad, saintly/evil dimension is too simplistic and only serves to divide us and devalue our humaneness.
When we oscillate from ‘love’ to ‘hate’ so easily (and these are just labels too) we degrade our essential nature. This ‘duality’ is not real love: it may be desire, control, selfishness and ego: but it is not true love. And it cannot create happiness or peace or the resolution of complex problems.
Only by looking inside ourselves with humility, acceptance and a deep sense of responsibility can we perceive that we are all connected in a magnificent ecosystem whose scale ‘passes all understanding’.
We are all part of this Universal Light which is founded on ‘absolute’ love, a love that has no opposite.
Only by tapping this source of truth can we start to change our thinking to enable us to resolve our issues and create a better, happier, safer and more harmonious world for ourselves, our children, our grandchildren and future generations…
