While the festival of light, Diwali, is celebrated mainly by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, it has universal meaning and relevance. It represents the victory of light over darkness, of wisdom over ignorance and of good over evil. Light and dark, good and evil, life and death are extrinsically different but intrinsically the same in that you can’t have one without the other.
