Ego cannot understand that spiritual growth always comes from what we do not know because ego assumes it already knows everything worth knowing.
The real voyage of awakening begins when we are genuinely open to the thought that we don’t know who we are, where we’re going, what we really want or how to make anything happen.

Once we surrender and admit to the idea that we may have been wrong about everything and know nothing (‘I know that I know nothing’: Socrates) we open our minds to the possibility of true mental and emotional growth.

As we drop our attachment to our ‘manufactured’ ego identity, we gently and consciously connect to that aspect of our Being that is constant and authentic.
When this connection, this awakened ‘knowing’ becomes the guiding frequency of our thoughts, words and actions, we enter the resonance of wisdom.

We can then safely close our eyes and walk in the dark, trusting in the infinite power of universal intelligence, Truth, Light and Love.

This is the meaning of the quote from St John of the Cross and is also a teaching of The Way: Finding Peace in Turbulent Times.
