Courage is not about being fearless or blindly reckless. It is not about winning battles or overcoming foes. It’s not about being an acclaimed hero or a charismatic leader.
No: courage is about knowing who we are and what truly matters.
It’s about standing up for what’s right in spite of our fear or what the popular view might be.
It is about resisting the forces of prejudice and hatred and the subtle enticement of our own ego.
It’s about selflessly lending a hand, whenever we see suffering, irrespective of background.
Above all, it’s about turning fear into our friend, allowing us the opportunity to stretch beyond our comfort zone. It’s about learning to be comfortable with fear as a source of positive action and ‘letting go’.
Sometimes we just have ‘to feel the fear and do it anyway’…just like these little ducklings…
Ultimately it is about kindness, simplicity and compassion, the desire to promote peace and fairness, the protection of the vulnerable and the inspiration of others through example.
This courage, as so many wise sages of the past have taught, is absolute love and the only truth…
